Automated System Configuration

The Autoscan DeLuxe Automatic Counting System is the flagship of our system fleet. It is based on the just-released Zeiss Z2m microscope, which includes many motorised functions. This system incorporates fully automatic track counting, as presented by Professor Andrew Gleadow of the University of Melbourne at the ECTC 2006 conference in Bremen, Germany. The stage and joystick connect directly to the microscope, and thus a separate stage controller is no longer required. The software provided is the latest colour version (V3) of our popular Trackscan Plus package.

The Autoscan Professional Automatic Counting System is based on the much less expensive Zeiss M2m microscope. The M2m microscope also incorporates a high degree of motorisation, and the digital camera is a very high-quality instrument. As for the Deluxe system, the stage and joystick connect directly to the microscope, and thus a separate stage controller is no longer required. Also, the 2.5x and 5x objectives have been left out (please refer to Hardware / Zeiss M2m - Professional System). In all other respects and within the indicated limitations, the performance of this system is comparable to that of the above DeLuxe system, and we would not hesitate to recommend it to laboratories with some budget limitations. The software provided is the latest colour version (V3) of our popular Trakscan Plus package.

The Autoscan Premier Automatic Counting System is again based on the Zeiss M2m microscope, but with just a few compromises to bring the price of the system within the often-quoted budget limits of some labs. Specifically, the 2.5x and 5x objectives have been left out, and the 10x, 20x and 50x objectives are Epiplan types, rather than the top-of-the-line Epiplan Neofluar types. The Epiplan types are still prefectly usable for FTD work, and can be changed to Epiplan-Neofluar types at any time by the user, if additional funds become available. The 100x objective, which is critical for FTD work, remains as an Epiplan-Neofluar objective. The M2m microscope, stage and joystick, and the digital camera are the same as for the Professional system. In all other respects and within the above-indicated limitations, the performance of this system is comparable to that of the Professional system, and we would not hesitate to recommend it to laboratories with some budget limitations. The software provided is the latest colour version (V3) of our popular Trakscan Plus package.
