Fission tracks in apatite are counted automatically by capturing reflected and transmitted light images to discriminate between genuine tracks and various non-track objects. The U-content in the apatite is measured by using a laser ablation ICP-MS. This avoids the time-consuming radiation step involved in the external detector method.

However, if the user wishes to continue use of the external detector method, our automated track counting module will allow the automatic counting of tracks on the mica.
