Automated microscopy for fission track dating — serving science since 1979

Trakscan Plus Professional

The same world-first automated counting capability on the versatile Zeiss AxioImager M2m — the system we recommend without hesitation to most laboratories.

What makes the Professional different

The Professional is built on the Zeiss AxioImager M2m — a less expensive but highly capable stand that keeps a high degree of motorisation while omitting configuration flexibility most FTD laboratories never use. It is our default recommendation: for fission track work, its results are comparable to the DeLuxe in every respect that matters.

  • Epiplan-Neofluar objectives at 10×, 20×, 50× and 100× — the same top-line glass as the DeLuxe at the magnifications FTD actually uses
  • 25 nm focus stepping — comfortably finer than FTD work requires
  • 2.5× and 5× objectives omitted — with our pre-marked coordination slides, the 10× objective locates coordination marks automatically, so most labs never miss them; they can be added at any time

The automated counting capability is identical to the DeLuxe. You give up 10 nm focus stepping, the two low-power objectives, and the bundled anti-vibration platform and CPL kit (both available as optional extras) — and keep everything that determines the quality of your data.

Included with every Trakscan Plus system

  • Fission TrackStudio — TrackWorks (capture) and FastTracks (analysis anywhere in the world), developed jointly with the University of Melbourne, with fully automated track counting for both EDM and LA-ICP-MS workflows
  • Zeiss stepper-motor stage and joystick, connecting directly to the microscope — no external controller; a Piezo-motor stage upgrade is available
  • Slide handling: standard Zeiss holder plus two patented Autoscan holders accepting a variety of slide sizes
  • IDS digital colour camera — 4 MP, 12-bit, up to 75 fps — with matched C-mount
  • Pre-configured high-performance PC with all microscope, stage, camera and analysis software installed and tested
  • Installation, calibration and training by Autoscan at your laboratory

The sensible choice for most laboratories.
